In the first thematic meetup after the summer break we will have a short tutorial about the tmap Package. This package allows the construction of thematic map using R. The structure of the functionalities is based on the Layered Grammar of Graphics (ggplot2) but it provides several predefined function to build publication ready thematic maps without the need of a GIS software.
In order to evaluate the full potential of the Package we will further investigate the following packages:
