Parallel computation in R

This time we will have a short presentation and tutorial by Mattia and Giulio about parallel computing in R.
We will give an overview on how to effectively use programming packages for distributing heavy tasks among cores of the computer. This reduces the computation time by a factor corresponding approximately to the number of available cores and it is suitable when the computation can be split into many independent processes. We will also talk about how to optimize the parallel computation of Basic Linear Algebra Subroutines (BLAS).
